Spent a lot of time with family today.
All sorts of family too. My immediate family, my extended family, and even my Hassett family! That may all sound confusing but it’s just my parents, brothers, aunt, uncle, and future brother, father, mother, grandmother and grandfather in-laws. Lots of people.
At least my family isn't THIS awkward. |
I’m sure we’ve discussed before how spending time with family is an important improvement to your life, but I’m also sure that those times before probably weren’t by choice. Normally my family just shows up so my time is spent with them by default. When I’m home for spring break though, I’m on their turf, so I can decide how much time and when I spend my time with them. It’s only fair.
That’s why today, my last whole day of spring break, I can count family time by choice as my improvement. It took me quite a bit of time to make the decision when my day started, but I feel like it was a good one. I’m happy with how the day turned out.
At first I wasn’t sure if I would be going with Amy to see her grandparents, but ultimately I did, and that was nice. They’re really funny, and very supportive and very kind. Seeing them also provided me the opportunity to see her parents and her brothers (although one was asleep). I should get to see them all again tomorrow though, so hopefully her other brother will be awake. Her whole family is awesome. I’m glad to be marrying into such a sweet group of people.
This is NOT how her brother was asleep on the couch. |
In regards to my own family, I realized I need to spend time with them. I’m not home much, so the time that I am I should spend with them. Unfortunately that meant not being able to spend the evening with my friends, but tonight was our Easter dinner (since I’ll be leaving early in the day tomorrow to go back to school), so I knew I needed to be home.
My aunt and uncle stopped by too, and I spent some time talking to them. My family’s all pretty funny. It was a pretty interesting evening.
Anyway, today was a family day. It improved my relationships, and improved my spirits. A good way to end spring break.
Have a Happy Easter everyone!

The movie that today's bit of improvement reminds me of is Addams Family Reunion (1998), because of all the family involved. |
P.S. WARNING: Tomorrow I will be tired. Have to be up at five, and then have to drive back to school. Not looking forward to it.
